The statement:

AAREA is already being courted for a mindshare in a National Appraiser Association and if we get the voice then it needs to be a load one from a lot of like minded appraisers.

S/B "a loud one" vs "a load one".....

Hello Fellow Arizona Appraisers! I would like to share some good news and have you pass along to other Arizona appraisers you may know the following info. Arizona has a new association that is not mired in affiliations that are more interested in their best interests before appraisers. The new Association that has been created for Arizona Appraisers is:

www.AAREAOnline.org

AAREA - Arizona Association of Real Estate Appraisers is the brain child of Joanna Conde a seasoned appraiser that is fed up with associations that do not deliver what appraisers truly need. The membership is free but your do have to take a pledge and only appraisers can belong. We are getting the attention of the Appraisal Board and the other associations. We welcome all appraisers licensed for Arizona and regardless if you are already a paying member to one of the other associations, THIS IS FREE TO JOIN, so your costs don't increase. Some of the highlights besides being FREE are that we, (as I am one of the Directors), is:

1) AAREA now has over 100 members in just two weeks!

2) AAREA will be offering a designation with a "fast tract" for those who are already licensed or certified. This will allow you to meet the allowable criteria in the Dodd-Frank bill. DRA or Designated Real Estate Appraiser will meet or exceed the current SRA designation requirements.

3) AAREA Foundation (separate from AAREA) is being created as a 501(c)(3) so that we can seek grant money for appraisers for education. Both currently licensed/certified appraisers and those that are enrolled in an education program will be eligible for grant money when it becomes available.

Don't delay, sign up today and if you are attending the Appraisal Summit in September you can see Joanna as one of the featured Speakers on Thursday, 9/23/2010. AAREA is already greater in membership than NAIFA and we will grow to be greater than AI and NAIFA combined in Arizona when the word gets out that AAREA is a true appraisers support network and working to get the laws for AMC's out of the Lenders court and into the Appraisers so we can rebuild the public trust. Appraisers have to become social and network if we are to overcome the challenges that big money are creating! Be part of the solution and join since the larger the membership the greater the visibility and the greater the visibility the more leverage. AAREA is already being courted for a mindshare in a National Appraiser Association and if we get the voice then it needs to be a load one from a lot of like minded appraisers. I am tired of being told how to appraise and for how much!! I joined and am a Board member so I can be part of a solution!!!

The group is here and they need our help. If you have not heard the group is called CoAA (Coalition of Arizona Appraisers). Please join and help the causes they are working on. We can unite and only with a united voice will any changes ever take place.

There are plenty of issues. It is just that we are so "independent" that it does not seem possible to agree. The group that is being formed should help us a lot. Craig, did you sign up for the state group while at the conference?

Craig - Visit the Appraiser Tribes Group on this forum for some tips on working with other appraisers.

In Illinois we have ICAP (Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals) that can be a GREAT "template" for other state organizations.

The AZ Appraiser Conference a few weeks ago convinced me that appraisers really can unite. Yet I just don't see any fire in such a group opportunity as here. Is there simply no issue common to most appraisers and worthy of passion?

Is anyone going to the appraiser's conference on the 19th?

Sherry and I work the Mendocino and Northern Sonoma County areas of California at this time. Sherry is an Certified Residential appraiser, licensed since 1992. I have worked side by side with her since 1995, and obtained my Trainee License in 11/06. I have about 2200 hours, and I am preparing to get my full license. We specialize in rural, remote, and off grid SFR's, in addition to the "easy" ones! We own a ranch in Cochise, Arizona and plan on moving to Arizona next fall. Sherry is also Certified in Arizona.
We also own a quarter horse breeding operation. I am a retired law enforcement officer and Sherry is a career real estate appraiser. Can't wait to make the move to our Arizona property, would have been there sooner had the bottom not fallen out! Sherry enjoys riding horses on her off time, I enjoy golf, flying, and scuba diving, as well as riding our horses.
